Malaysians Loved 12/12 As Much As They Loved 11/11

malaysians loved 12/12 as much as they loved 11/11

So how crazy did you go during the recent 12/12 sale?

Prior to that was the 11/11 sale, which was already pretty huge!

12/12 appears to be catching up to the popularity of 11/11, given the similar amount of traffic, customers and orders placed on both those days, ShopBack found.

Partnering with over 2000 e-merchants (more than 500 in Malaysia) to reward customers with up to 30% cashback, ShopBack’s partners include Shopee, Lazada, ZALORA, Alibaba’s group Taobao, Tmall and AliExpress, as well as Agoda, Booking.com, and KLOOK, among others.

Other than that, ShopBack users also have the chance to get exclusive voucher codes from e-merchants. Locally, more than 2 million shoppers click through ShopBack before they visit online stores and the company has since rewarded over RM50 million worth of cashback to Malaysian users - that’s A LOT. Who doesn’t love rewards?

Based on preliminary 12/12 results, it was found that Malaysians love 12/12 just as much as 11/11. As long as got sale, right?

According to Eddy Han, Country General Manager of ShopBack Malaysia, results also indicated that traffic at the second hour of this year’s 12/12 sale was more than last year’s 12/12 with an increment of 150%~300%. Meanwhile, it was also discovered that Malaysians and Indonesians were at the top when it came to total expenditure and volume of purchases. To break it down, an average of 7, 000 users made at least 1 order via ShopBack Malaysia every hour.

In Malaysia, the top 3 purchasing categories were found to be Online Marketplace, eWallet, and Travel. While Marketplace had the most number of customer orders placed, Travel took the cake for the most amount spent by customers per order.

eWallet users in Malaysia are also pretty lucky! ShopBack Malaysia is the first within its APAC countries to provide cashback when shoppers register or reload their Tng eWallet, get up to 2% cashback when they use Boost to make a payment - and all this on top of respective eWallet’s cashback and promotions. Pretty sweet deal, we think!

Malaysians stuck to the same favourite stores during the sale, with Lazada, Shopee and Taobao taking the top three spots.
