2020 has been a roller coaster, especially with the global COVID-19 pandemic forcing several events, concerts, gatherings and comic-cons to be either cancelled or postponed.
In fact, 2020 has been a year where video conferences, online concerts, online classes and online seminars have been a norm.
Five months ago, around the comic-con season, the Singapore and Malaysian Comics Community held an online comic convention where fans got to interact with some of their favourite comic creators.
Unlike the popular San Diego Comic-Con where most of their panels were pre-recorded, the Singapore-Malaysian Virtual Fan Festival are LIVE sessions which allows fans to send in their questions or comments in real-time.
The second Singapore-Malaysian Virtual Fan Festival (SMVFF2.0) is set have comic book legends like Chris Claremont, Art Adams as well as several other Malaysian and Singapore comic creators including Ernest Ng of Bro, don't like that la, bro, as well asEisner Award Winners Erica Eng and Sonny Liew.
The two-day event allows fans to do anything and everything they can, just like a real-life comic-con.
The experience may be different but at the end of the day, it will be a fan festival not to be missed.
