On 15th October 2020, the Edge Markets reported that MCAT Box Office Sdn. Bhd, better known to Malaysians as MBO Cinemas is facing liquidation. As of now, only 4 out of 27 MBO Cinema locations are operating.

Malaysians were clearly heart-broken by the news. For many, MBO was their first childhood cinema experience.
