Let’s Support Our Frontliners By Giving Them A Free Cup Of Coffee!

Drinking a cup of coffee as soon as you get to work has become almost everyone’s daily routine that some claim they can’t even function without drinking coffee first thing in the morning.  Since we can make our own coffee at home, let’s put a smile on our frontliners' faces by giving them a free cup of coffee at work!

Juan Valdez Cafe Malaysia is keeping the spirit of solidarity strong with its ‘Let’s Support Our Local Heroes’ community-funded coffee donation initiative, now extended till 12 May 2020 following the country’s latest Movement Control Order (MCO) period extension.

“The generosity of our partners and the community has been inspiring.  Our goal now is RM25,000 in donations that will equal 5,000 cups of coffee in the coming weeks.  We will be putting these cups of coffee into the hands of workers in other hospitals, or other essential services sectors such as nursing homes and grocery stores,” said Khalip Latif, Director of Juan Valdez Cafe Malaysia.

The initiative that began on 1 April 2020 had enabled the Colombian coffeehouse chain to send over 3,600 cups of complimentary coffee to essential services workers throughout the Klang Valley.

Besides donations from members of the community, the Colombian Embassy of Malaysia, as well as Staffany - a Singaporean based workforce solutions provider, have also chipped in, raising RM18,250 in coffee donations over the past month.

Frontliners will be greeted by a warm cuppa pick-me-up coffee delivered to their workplace which includes healthcare workers of Hospital Sungai Buloh, delivery riders, and members of the media, all thanks to these generous donations.

“It's our way of giving back to our local medical and essential services heroes that have been serving our nation every day, through long hours, in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.  We want them to know that the community cares for them - it can simply start with a cup of coffee,” said Khalip.

Members of the public can contribute to the ‘Let’s Support Our Local Heroes’ coffee donation initiative, starting at RM250 which pays forward 50 cups of freshly brewed cuppa joes made from premium Colombian Cumbre coffee beans. Juan Valdez Cafe provides the rest on the house - from handcrafting to delivering the coffees to the essential workers.

Now, let’s put a smile on our frontliners’ faces!
