Following the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, several malls in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur have reported positive cases on their premises.

Here are the list of malls in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur that have reported positive COVID-19 cases so far.
1. The Linc KL
On September 24th, the Linc KL announced on their Instagram page that a parent of a child studying at Trinity Kids was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19.
In the statement, they said: “The said child was on a half-day program until noon and last attended school on Thursday (17 September).
The mall is now open for business as usual.
2. Sunway Pyramid
On September 26th, Sunway Pyramid confirmed the status of a Nike store worker who tested positive for COVID-19.

In the statement, its management said that Sunway Pyramid and the Ministry of Health has reached out to those who were in close contact with the patient, and they’ve been ordered to undergo screening and self-quarantine.
They added: “We would like to assure all tenants, vendors, and customers that the case is isolated and has been attended to immediately upon identification, together with the affected tenant in full compliance with the Health Ministry’s guidelines.”
The mall is now open for business as usual.
3. Suria KLCC
On September 27th, Suria KLCC also confirmed in a statement that they were visited by a member of Babel Fit, who tested positive for COVID-19 on 23 September.
They said in the post: “Immediately upon confirmation of the case, thorough sanitisation and disinfection exercise was carried out at Babel and its surrounding area. Having said this, the MOH advised Babel that they could resume their operations when the sanitisation and disinfection exercise is completed.”
“Suria KLCC continues to take proactive and preventive measures to maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the mall,” they added.

4. KL Gateway Mall
It was reported that an employee from KL Gateway Mall who recently got back from Sabah was suspected to be COVID-19 positive.
On September 27th, KL Gateway released a statement informing that the employee has since tested negative.
The mall has since resumed its operations.
5. NU Sentral
On the same date (September 27th) NU Sentral shopping centre confirmed that one of their workers had tested positive for COVID-19.
The management has assured the public that it has since sanitised the entire mall as a precaution.

NU Sentral Mall added that the Health Ministry has immediately carried out contact tracing including other management staff who underwent COVID-19 tests, with the first batch of results returning negative.
The mall is now open as usual.
6. 1 Utama Shopping Centre
On October 5th, the mall management revealed that a staff from one of the stores in 1 Utama had tested positive for COVID-19, and the staff has not been in the mall since 30 September.
In response to the incident, the management immediately closed and deep-cleaned the affected stores. Co-workers have also been placed under strict quarantine. The management also said that they have conducted thorough sanitisation of the mall including the AHU rooms, public areas, amenities, lifts, escalators, toilets, baby room, back of house facilities, and all other heavy touchpoints.

7. Paradigm Mall
One of the staff at the mall’s store recently tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement, the management clarified that the staff’s roommate had tested positive for COVID-19, “The staff applied for medical leave commencing from Saturday (October 3rd) to undergo testing himself and did not report to work nor enter the mall since last reporting work last Friday (9 October).”
A thorough sanitisation process was immediately conducted and multiple preventative measures and mitigation steps have continuously been practiced, they added.

8. Setia City Mall
On October 8th, Setia City Mall announced on their Facebook page that a member in the mall’s gym had self-declared as a COVID-19 patient.
The gym’s staff that was on duty has undergone the COVID-19 test and will observe a 14-day quarantine, they said in a statement.

9. Mid Valley and The Gardens Mall
Mid Valley and The Gardens Mall announced that an employee from a company that has outlets in both malls tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement, they said: “She did not exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19 but arrangements were made for her to take the test. The positive test result was announced on Sunday (11th October) on a Facebook post.

10. Bangsar Shopping Centre

11. 3 Damansara
The mall revealed on Sunday (October 11th) that a security personnel stationed at the mall’s Fire Command Centre has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee has not returned to work since 9 October, they added in a statement.
The management also assured shoppers that the mall has increased the frequency of disinfection and cleaning including in common areas within the mall and office blocks.
