#1 Possible Health Effects

Interacting with animals has shown to decrease levels of cortisol, which is a stress-related hormone, and lower the blood pressure as well.

Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support and boost your mood!

#2 Animals Help People

Animals also serve as a source of comfort and support.

There are therapy dogs that are especially good at this and they’re sometimes brought into hospitals or nursing homes to help reduce the patients’ stress and anxiety.

Dogs are very present, so if someone is struggling with something, they know how to sit there and be loving.

#3 Help Each Other

Pets also bring new responsibilities. 

Just knowing how to care for and feed an animal is a part of owning a pet!

It also teaches kids to respect boundaries. Knowing that animals can feel stressed and fatigued is important for kids, so that they are able to recognise signs of stress in their pet and know when not to approach the animal as animal bites can cause serious harm!
