Italian Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci is a well-known and revered name in the arts. Many flock to The Louvre in Paris, waiting in line just to get an opportunity to see the famed “Mona Lisa” painting in person, and you’ve probably seen a picture of “The Last Supper” some time in your life.
Touted as a genius for both his artworks as well as his inventions, his few surviving prized artworks are now scattered across the world – housed in museums across Europe and the US.

However, thanks to technology, we now have the opportunity to see 17 of da Vinci’s artwork here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of his death, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and RAI (the Italian public television) are collaborating with partners around the world, including the National Art Gallery of Kuala Lumpur and the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to showcase da Vinci’s artwork through digital reproduction.
Using a high-definition, true-to-size digital reproduction, the exhibition will make it possible for the Malaysian public to experience da Vinci’s art in person. The “Leonardo Opera Omnia” exhibition will open daily in the National Gallery from July 15th till 15th August, from 10am to 6pm. The best part? It’s totally FREE and prior booking is not required!
