The football world was recently abuzz with news that Cristiano Ronaldo had become only the second man in history after Iran's Ali Daei to score more than 100 international goals.
But one (very important) detail seems to have slipped through the cracks: in third place behind Ronaldo and Daei on the all-time highest scorers list is Malaysia's very own Datuk Mokhtar Dahari.

The late SuperMokh, as he was known, was one of the most lethal strikers to don a Harimau Malaya shirt.
He scored an impressive 85 goals for the national team during their heyday in the 70's & 80s.
That's more goals that Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskas (84) and current Barcelona star Lionel Messi (70), and just 16 goals fewer than Ronaldo's latest milestone.
The legendary Mokhtar spent most of his illustrious career with Selangor, and also featured 131 times for Malaysia.
He was one of the best footballers in the country in the 70's, and widely regarded as one of the top strikers in Asia at the time.
Tragically, he passed away in 1991 from motor neuron disease at the age of just 38.
His passing was a huge loss to Malaysian football, but it's good to know that his name remains up there, alongside the greats of the game.
