CMCO: Necessity of On-Demand Deliveries In The New Normal

Now that the conditional movement control order (CMCO) has been implemented in Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya, most people are stuck at home yet again.

...and the only way for us to satisfy our cravings or if we want to send something to our friends, is by relying on delivery services to get the job done.

Businesses, particularly SMEs, have to reinvent themselves to stay relevant in a new world that has been changed by restricted movements and new standard operating procedures (SOPs), and for Lalamove, the F&B industry forms the majority of its business deliveries, while clients from wholesale, trading, manufacturing, e-commerce, and other industries comprise the rest of its business delivery demand profile.

Home-based micro-entrepreneurs are also taking advantage of its on-demand delivery services such as Syahinaz Abdul Majeed, who recently went viral with her ‘Nasi Lemak Kena Benti Kerja’ business.

She has been relying on Lalamove to deliver her nasi lemak to customers. The COVID-19 pandemic has been shaping the on-demand logistics trends through changing consumer behaviours and expectations.

Due to the urgency of physical distancing and minimising contact with the outside world, there has been a dramatic shift from in-person to online shopping.

Modern consumers are investing more trust in the value of faster delivery at their doorsteps. Businesses that adapt to these changing demands by adopting on-demand deliveries in their operations have greater odds of success.

Shen Ong, Managing Director of Lalamove Malaysia said: “Our clients are the ones embracing the changes to meet this demand and we are thankful to them for allowing us to be a part of their business transformation in the new normal. Without them, it would not be possible for us to reach these new heights in delivery demand despite the ongoing CMCO.”

Stay at home and stay safe, guys!
