It is always scary when car accidents happen. Even some of the best drivers can be victims of a crash. But regardless of who is at fault, accidents are stressful, and it is often unexpected. For most of us who have experienced being in an accident, we follow the necessary steps after we encounter one. But, have you thought about what would you do if you are a female driver and you get into a crash at night when it is dark and creepy out there?
Fear not ladies, here are a few tips on what you can do if you ever get into an accident at night and if you happen to be in an unfamiliar place, (apart from the things that you would normally do of course).
Tip 1: Keep Calm and Breathe

Before you do anything else, we must remain calm and regather our thoughts immediately after an encountering an accident. This is important because we are not able to think and act rationally with a panic state of mind.
Tip 2: Check Your Surroundings

After pulling over to a safe spot and putting on your hazard lights, don’t step out of your car until you have properly checked your surroundings for any suspicious behaviours. This will not only protect yourself from being harmed, but you will also avoid any unwanted danger.
Tip 3: What If The Person Who Hit You Is A Man?

If the other party happens to be a man and if you are too afraid to step out of the car, you can always slightly wind down your window to exchange particulars with the opposing party before making any arrangements at somewhere public and safe to settle the issue.
Tip 4: Contact The TMC (Traffic Monitoring Centre)

Our Traffic Monitoring team are on call 24/7 for any roadside assistance should you get into an accident on the PLUS (North-South) Highway. All you need to do is dial the toll-free line (1800-88-0000) and they will attend to your case at the very first instance.
These tips are very useful for anyone who gets into an accident regardless of gender. And remember guys, safety first! Here's an interview by Astro Radio Traffic with Inspector Teo from the Bukit Aman Police Headquarters for a few tips on what you can do when you get into an accident.
