5 Things You Should Do To Get Better Quality Sleep!

We all have our nightly rituals, no matter how simple or ordinary.

Some of us make a cup of tea, while others unwind with cold water with lemon! Some like to paint, do puzzles or read a book before going to bed, while others like to go on a run or do yoga instead.

These are all great ways to unwind before going to bed, but here are five things that you must do every night before going to bed to improve ourselves, according to Great Performers Academy.

#1 Spend time with your family

Sometimes we get too caught up in our work that we forget to actually spend time with family.

Taking time out at the end of each day to reconnect with the ones we love is vital! We should learn to just be able to relax at home, maybe schedule a game night on Tuesdays and movie night on Fridays, and prioritize family dinner over company dinners.

#2 Plan for the next day

It’s really no fun when you wake up in the morning and start rushing to get yourself ready for the day. We all sleep better when there is nothing to worry about!

We should always take time to go through the next day’s activities in order to make sure that we have everything covered. One way to do this is to make a checklist of what needs to be done the next day then plan how to go about it as efficiently as possible.

#3 Read

Successful people are voracious readers and that’s facts!

Make time to read whenever possible. Though your book of choice does not necessarily need to be one that requires critical thinking. It is also widely suggested that we pick up an old-fashioned book or magazine rather than a gadget, as the bright light emitted from gadgets might affect or delay our sleep cycle.

#4 Unplug

Put that phone down! You can check your emails tomorrow after you wake up.

Shut down all gadgets at least an hour before bedtime. This includes mobile phones, laptops, tablets and TV! Getting a good night’s sleep is important as it can affect your day.

#5 Go to bed at the same time each night

Make a habit of going to bed at the same time each night just like how we set an alarm to wake up at a certain time every single morning.

It’s important that we get adequate sleep for you to be able to function properly the next day. According to the National Sleep Foundation, adults between 18 to 64-years-old need about seven to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep each day

Quality sleep makes a positive contribution to your physical and emotional health. Hope this helps!
