The SYOK team had the incredible opportunity to catch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle in cinemas, thanks to our friends at Sony Pictures Malaysia.
Stepping into Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX Mall in KL, the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. Fans turned up in full cosplay as their favourite characters, from Tanjiro to Nezuko, complete with intricate props and perfectly styled wigs – it felt like walking straight into the Demon Slayer universe before the movie even started.
As fans of both the anime and the manga, our excitement was sky-high. The moment the film began, the visuals instantly pulled us in. The animation was so breathtakingly detailed that we almost forgot we were reading subtitles – the artistry kept stealing our attention. Ufotable truly outdid themselves, delivering a cinematic spectacle that exceeded even the manga’s already high standards.
The Infinity Castle arc feels like the payoff to years of character growth. Zenitsu, Tanjiro, Shinobu, and especially Akaza all get defining, emotional moments. What’s impressive is that it’s not only the main trio who shine – this arc finally gives depth to characters who previously felt underused, with Akaza’s backstory standing out in particular.
Musically, Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina return with a soundtrack that’s as haunting as it is adrenaline-pumping. The blend of traditional Japanese instruments with modern orchestration reaches new heights here, perfectly matching each battle’s shifting tone. Every sword clash, every demon’s roar is crafted to hit right in the chest, thanks to masterful sound design.
In terms of character development, Zenitsu’s growth struck us the most. From the timid, self-doubting boy we met in Season 1 to a determined and courageous Demon Slayer in this movie, his transformation is deeply satisfying to witness.
What makes Infinity Castle more than just an action spectacle is how it humanises the demons. Through flashbacks and emotional beats, we see that even the most fearsome villains were once ordinary people with families, dreams, and love in their hearts. It’s a powerful reminder that people aren’t born evil – circumstances, loss, and pain can twist them into something unrecognisable. It leaves us reflecting on how important it is not to take loved ones for granted, and how belief in someone can sometimes change their path for the better.
With its insane visuals, heartfelt storytelling, and emotional depth, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle isn’t just another anime film – it’s a work of art. We can’t wait to see how the final two movies will wrap up this epic saga.
