Last night was pure magic for the SYOK team — and for everyone who grew up with M2M’s songs playing through our old radios and CD players. If you’re a little younger and not too familiar with them, M2M is the pop duo that 90s kids grew up loving, with songs that still bring back memories of school mornings and weekend road trips.
When we found out they were coming to Malaysia to perform at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands, we knew we had to be there. Thanks to our friends at Resorts World Genting, we got the chance to experience a night we’ll never forget.
Malaysian fans arrived early, buzzing with excitement. Some turned it into a girls' night out, while others came with family, bringing along parents who loved M2M just as much, or their children who are now growing up with the same songs. That’s the magic of M2M, their music truly has no age limit.
The moment Marit Larsen and Marion Raven stepped on stage, the arena erupted with screams. They opened the night with The Day You Went Away, followed by Everything You Do and The Minute, and it felt like no time had passed at all, we were all teenagers again, singing every lyric at the top of our lungs.
After their first set, the girls paused to greet their Malaysian fans and shared that it had been 23 years since their last visit here. We couldn’t believe it, and it made the night feel even more special, knowing how long we had waited for this moment.
They continued the night with even more of our favourites. When they performed Pretty Boy and Don’t, the crowd sang along, soaking up every second. At one point, Marion even stepped off the stage and came down to sing with the audience, making it a once-in-a-lifetime memory for those lucky enough to be close, and even luckier for the fans who managed to snap a selfie with her!
As the night drew to a close, M2M gave us the perfect ending. They performed Mirror Mirror, Everything, Don’t Mess With My Love, and finally Don’t Say You Love Me, with the entire arena joining in!
It was a night filled with memories! We hope it meant as much to M2M as it did to all of us. Until next time, thank you for giving us a night we’ll always remember!
