South Korea Could Lose Billions As Result Of BTS’ Upcoming Military Service

We’re gonna miss them!

ARMYs were left heartbroken after South Korean boyband BTS’ label, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that the members will finally enlist in the military service to serve their country.

This means… no new music and concerts for a while until they’re back together again as a group in 2025!

Since releasing their first album almost ten years ago, members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook has broken 18 Guinness World Records and took home Teen Choice Awards, MTV VMAs, Soompy Awards, Radio Disney Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, American Music Awards… and was even nominated for a GRAMMY in 2021 and 2022.

They have also recently proven their value as an economic powerhouse as well as a triumph in the entertainment industry for South Korea!

A study conducted by researchers at the Hyundai Research Institute reveals that BTS has contributed more than $3.6 billion (which is around RM16.9 billion) annually to South Korea since 2018.

According to experts at Hyundai, the boy band also brought one in every 13 tourists to South Korea in 2017 and produced an estimated $1.1 billion (RM5.1 billion) in exports of consumer products like clothing and cosmetics in only one year.

Analysts also predict that BTS will have contributed about $29.1 trillion to the South Korean GDP between 2014 and 2023. Wah, that’s amazing!

As of today, Forbes reported that BTS’ total net worth by 2020 was $50 million (RM236 Million).

It’s a sad day for ARMYs, but we’re so excited for the boys to get this experience and come back better than ever!
