A Disney+ Hotstar Day premiere, a Disney Original returns with a live-action remake of one of the most beloved stories of all time – Pinocchio.
The classic childhood tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling quest to become a real boy is brought to life in a brand-new CGI retelling by Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis.
In this live-action musical adaptation of Pinocchio, Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the woodcarver who builds a wooden puppet and treats him as if he were his son. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Jiminy Cricket, who serves as Pinocchio’s guide as well as his “conscience”, Luke Evans is The Coachman, and Keegan-Michael Key is “Honest” John.
Joining this star-studded list are Malaysian talents who voice these characters in a Bahasa Melayu dubbed version of Pinocchio, led by vocal director Eka Shereen and veteran singer-songwriter Juwita Suwito. No stranger to the industry, prolific actor Azman Hassan voices Geppetto. With over 30 years of acting and singing experience across more than 50 film and series titles, Azman is the perfect choice for the role as he lends his vocal skills to the kind-hearted and humble character.
The titular role of Pinocchio will be voiced by the up-and-coming young actor, Khaireel Akasya. Sabahan singer extraordinaire Liana Jacklon will showcase her melodious singing as she sings the Blue Fairy’s songs. Liana is an accomplished singer and has performed at major venues all over the world, including the Baku Academy of Music in Azerbaijan, The United Nations Office, and Musikverein in Vienna, one of the most well-known opera houses in the world.
Hit singer Suki Low will be the voice of Fabiana and her marionette Sabina. Suki previously voiced Snow White on the Bahasa Melayu dubbed version of the classic animation “Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs”. Other talents include Muhamad Mustaqim as Jiminy Cricket, Hazwan Idris (“Despicable Me 3”, “Klaus”) as “Honest” John, Wan Muhammad Tamlikha as The Coachman, and Nur Atiqah Zawani (“Detective Conan”, “Tangled) as the dialogue voiceover for the Blue Fairy.
