Hello, Cruel World! We Watched Hocus Pocus 2 And Here’s What We Think About The Film

We literally screamed when we found out that Disney is releasing Hocus Pocus 2!

hello, cruel world! we watched hocus pocus 2 and here’s what we think about the film

In case you don’t know, Hocus Pocus is a cult classic, a 1993 American fantasy comedy film that follows a villainous comedic trio of witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night.

The film was directed by Kenny Ortega and written by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris.

Yes, the first film was released 29-years-ago which makes its sequel, Hocus Pocus 2 a nostalgic, fun reboot which stars the same, legendary actresses Bette Midler, Kathy Majimi and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Just like in the first film, The Sanderson Sisters was accidentally resurrected, AGAIN, with the lighting of the Black Flame Candle, 29 years after Max, Allison and Thora did it in 1993. And of course, the witches’ mission is to suck the lives out of the children of Salem before sunrise or otherwise… they’ll go POOF!

First of all, we HAVE to talk about the actresses. After leaving their characters for almost 30 years, getting back into character can be hard, but not for these talented women. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker literally KILLED IT, and they look like they’re having a blast being their characters.

Also, the most noticeable difference is how in the first movie, the storyline focuses more about the relationships between brothers and sisters, however with this one, it’s all about friendship.

There’s also so many other reasons why we enjoyed watching the film, like some very funny moments when the Sanderson sisters got into a costume competition - which we don’t want to spoil too much for you… So, you just have to watch the film yourself!

And DO watch it till the end to find out how the story ends, and for… maybe, a special credit scene. Just saying!

For us, personally, Hocus Pocus 2 really stuck to its roots and has nostalgia, reminding us of WHY we love Winifred, Sarah and Mary even though they literally tried to kill us.
