Young Local Filmmakers Take Malaysia To The 15th Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival!

The annual Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) is back this year and will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from today (November 25th) right up till Sunday (November 29th).

JAFF is a premier Asian film festival in Indonesia that focuses on the development of Asian cinema.

This year, with its theme “Kinetic”, JAFF highlights the importance of sustaining the dynamic movement of Asian cinemas to achieve greatness through the rapid development of technology. 

In a Facebook post, the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) announced that several Malaysian films will be representing the country in the ‘Official Selection’ category.

Among the local films which made it into the prestigious film festival this year are fiction films ‘Malu’ by Edmund Yeo, ‘Prebet Sapu’ by Muzammer Rahman, and documentary, ‘The Love of Tapang Tree’ directed by Nova Goh.

Several short films also made the cut: ‘The Girls Are Alright’ by Gwai Lou, ‘The Cloud Is Still There’ by Mickey Lai Loke Yee, ‘See You Next Century’ by James Lee, ‘Burung-Burung’ by Anwar Johari,  ‘Setting Moon’ by Chan Teik Quan and ‘Peon’ by June Wong, Shaiful Yahya and Syaz Zainal.

A total of 57 feature films and 71 short films from 29 Asia Pacific countries will be screened at the JAFF 15 event.
