Vivy Yusof, entrepreneur and founder of FashionValet, has filed a defamation suit against a woman, for allegedly shaming her on social media.
Back in March, Vivy had posted a video on her Instagram account of a conversation between four entrepreneurs regarding COVID-19 economic impact and the Economic Stimulus Package announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Based on one of her statements in the video, it seems the woman had accused Vivy of questioning the government's initiative in providing aid to the B40 and M40 groups, when they were making no contributions to the country.
The woman claimed that Vivy’s statement was defamatory, as it did not sympathise with the B40 and M40 groups, while also pointing out that it was unprofessional.
This then started a petition on April 1st to remove Vivy from Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) board of directors, for insulting the said groups, and it has since garnered over 230,000 signatures.
It’s understood that Vivy filed the suit demanding the woman to stop posting any further defamatory statements against her, but she continued to do so.
Vivy is now seeking for general, aggravated and exemplary damages as well as an order for the defendant to take down the defamatory statements, and also an apology from the defendant.
