Besides the iconic Disney classics, Hollywood movies and award-winning content from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic, FX, 20th Century Studios, Disney+ Hotstar will also feature an extensive library of award-winning Malaysian cinema releases and homegrown hits, such as J2: J Retribusi, Zombitopia, Ada Hantu, Ejen Ali, Upin & Ipin and more!
Here are a few local films that we’re looking forward to watching this June on Disney+!
J2: J Revolusi
Jay Zulkarnain is back with J2: J Retribusi this 1st of June on Disney+!
Jay, a bodyguard, races against time to save his boss, businessman Dato' Hashim and his daughter Nadi, against a hostile hostage situation.
Starring Zul Ariffin, Amelia Henderson, Ashraf Sinclair and Datuk Rosyam Nor!
Zombitopia
Directed by Ming Jin Woo, and starring Sharifah Amani, Bront Palarae, Elvina Mohamad and Shaheizy Sam… Zombitopia tells a story about Hassan who takes in Zidik, and cares for him like his own son after discovering that he’s been living alone on the streets.
Zidik now works together with Hassan in the junkyard but both men are stuck in the past. 15 years ago, they lost their loved ones to a virus that turned people violent. Hassan often "forgets" that the virus killed his wife, while Zidik still remembers his sister attacking his mother and his father sacrificing himself to save Zidik.
Amid this new zombie outbreak, Zidik encounters a zombified Zooey, the girl he met at the orphanage he briefly stayed at before being kicked out by the evil Kak Lily, who tries to attack him but she slowly begins to remember who he is.
Ejen Ali The Movie 2
Ejen Ali, a local animated film, received the highest collection last year of more than RM30 million.
Its second film, announced by Wau Animation last year, will be aired exclusively on Disney+ after it hits the cinema. We still don’t have an official date for it, but we’re still excited for this one!
