GSC’s Big Screen Gaming: Size Does Matter

Cinemas have taken a big hit this past year. From being one of the default weekend activities, many cinema branches remain closed as the COVID-19 numbers continue to hike up. Blockbuster movies that were anticipated to be released this year have been delayed to next year and some movies have been delayed indefinitely.

That is why this year is all about being flexible and learning to adapt.

Similar to Malaysians that have taken it upon themselves to find new career paths or find ways to diversify their businesses in our new series, SYOK #KamiMalaysians, GSC has also adapted, and introduced their very own “Big Screen Gaming.”

You've seen movies on the big screen, but have you played games on the BIG SCREEN? 🎮 Now you can book a hall from us...

Posted by GSC on Thursday, October 22, 2020

Big Screen Gaming allows you to transform a cinema hall into your very own personal cybercafe. In a way, this is recognition that video games are also a story-telling platform whereby gamers are a part of weaving the narrative of the story.

Who remembers sitting by their older sibling or cousin just watching them as they traverse through video game universes? Or sharing one computer amongst friends, taking turns to play the same video game save file and shouting directions at them when it isn’t your turn?

In an age where everyone has their own devices, GSC is bringing back back-seat gaming. Playing games are fun but there’s a certain special pleasure in watching someone else make bad decisions and fail at whatever challenges a game throws at them.

Netizens love the idea, some already thinking of which games they would like to see on the big screen including FIFA, Final Fantasy 7 and horror games.
