Malaysia Records Over 5,600 COVID-19 Cases, Highest Daily Figure In The Past Two Weeks

The country records 5,685 new COVID-19 cases on Monday (July 18th), the highest number of daily cases in the past 14-days.

According to NST, the Health Ministry saw 3,337 recoveries and eight deaths, of which five were brought-in-dead cases.

Since the pandemic started in 2020, 4,635,648 people in the country were infected with COVID-19, of the number, 4,554,286 recovered, 35,878 died of the virus and 43,858 are currently infected. 

A total of 2,024 new infections were recorded in Selangor, 1,834 in Kuala Lumpur, 357 in Perak, 279 in Sabah, 230 in Negeri Sembilan, 205 in Penang, 147 in Melaka, 126 in Johor and Kedah, 92 in Putrajaya, 85 in Sarawak, 63 in Pahang, 53 in Kelantan, 41 in Terengganu, 15 in Labuan and eight in Perlis.

Data also showed that only two of the new cases were imported while another 5,683 were local transmissions. 

The number of cases is slowly rising, guys! Please be complacent and remember to wash your hands regularly and get yourself vaccinated!
