MCO Officially Extended Till February 4th

mco officially extended till february 4th

The Movement Control Order (MCO) in Penang, Selangor, Melaka, the Federal Territories (KL, Putrajaya, and Labuan), Johor, Kelantan, and Sabah will be extended until February 4th, from the initial January 26th date.

During his daily press briefing today (January 21st), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said it’s because authorities are still detecting a high number of COVID-19 cases in these areas.

This comes just days after the government announced that Kedah, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Terengganu, and Perlis will be placed under an MCO, which takes effect at midnight tonight.

This means the entire country, except Sarawak, will be under an MCO until February 4th.

On another note, Datuk Seri Ismail said starting tomorrow (January 22nd), eateries will be allowed to open until 10pm daily.

However, dine-in services are still not allowed.

He added that the longer operating hours also extends to food delivery services

This comes following calls from the public for eateries to stay open for a longer time.

Meanwhile, Malaysia reported another 3,170 COVID-19 cases today.

The Health Ministry (MOH) said KL recorded the highest number of infections, with 576, followed by Selangor with 545, and Johor (423).

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 642, after 12 more patients succumbed to the virus.

Stay home and stay safe, everyone!
