Following the viral video, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has decided to offer her a scholarship, and the news was announced by the varsity vice-chancellor Datuk Professor Dr. Taufiq Yap Yun Hin on his personal Facebook profile.

“With great pleasure, UMS will be offering a scholarship to Veveonah Mosibin to is currently completing her Foundation in Science, and will move on to pursue a bachelor's degree at the university,” he wrote.

“She is very smart and has always been proactive during her foundation programme. May she succeed in her studies.”

Bernama reported that the 18-year-old Sabahan girl was also invited to meet the wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M. Jasni, who presented Veveonah with cash donations and some food supplies.

Veveonah attended the occasion with both her parents Mosibin Makrun and Rofinah Ungo who she described as her role models and her driving force to be successful in her education.

She became an internet sensation when her 11-minute video “24 Hours on Tree” went viral for having to camp overnight in a tree to get an internet connection for an online examination. 

Her story also caught the attention of the authorities from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commissions who had followed up and pledged to improve internet connection in the area.
