Headmaster Doubles As Grab Rider To Raise Money For School Project

headmaster doubles as grab rider to raise money for school project

You know what they say: if you want something done, sometimes you just have to do it yourself.

A headmaster of a school in Kuala Selangor, Selangor recently put these words into action, after students and staff noticed that on top of his job, he also works as a Grab rider.

But Haji Aedil Mat, headmaster of Sekolah Agama Menengah (SAM) Jeram, wasn’t working two jobs for himself.

It turns out, the 53-year-old was working the extra hours to raise money for his school - to build a new multipurpose hall.

Aedil told Sinar Harian he was surprised that his story received so much positive feedback, after it went viral on social media.

“I meant to do this as a gimmick, to get school staff to donate, even if it was just RM5. And then, when a photo of me on the job went around, many people started asking me how they could contribute,” he said.

As it stands, Aedil has managed to collect over RM167,000 since September 30th for the hall, which would benefit 825 students.

It’s understood that the project was supposed to have already gotten underway, but works were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The dedication of a teacher truly is unmeasurable!
