Majority Of New COVID-19 Cases In Malaysia Have No History Of Vaccination

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 14,516 new COVID-19 cases on Monday (July 26th), which brings the total number of infections in the country to 1,027,954.

However, the majority of the new cases reported have no history of vaccination.

Of the total number of new COVID-19 cases, MOH revealed that:

  1. 95 cases, 0.7% (97.9% of cases have no history of vaccination) were from category 5 (critical and in need of respiratory assistance);

  2. 77 cases, 0.5% (85.7% of cases have no history of vaccination) category 4 (pneumonia and need oxygen assistance);

  3. 83 cases, 0.6% (67.5% of cases have no history of vaccination) category 3 (pneumonia);

  4. 7,045 cases, 49.7% (95.6% of cases have no history of vaccination) category 2 (mild symptoms); and

  5. 7,216 cases, 49.7% (95.6% of cases have no history of vaccination) category 1 (asymptomatic).

Overall, 1.8% of cases were reported to be in categories 3-5 (84% have no history of vaccination) and 98.2% of cases were in categories 1 and 2 (92% have no history of vaccination).

It was also revealed that the vast majority of the newly diagnosed COVID-19 cases, 92%, had no history of vaccination.

Yes, in some cases, you can still get infected with COVID-19 even after you are vaccinated.

Although, your chances are lower, and it is likely you will experience much milder symptoms even if you do get infected.
