Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba has announced that the country will now look into developing its own COVID-19 vaccines to speed up the vaccination process.

On Facebook, Dr. Adham said that researchers at the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) would look into producing two types of vaccines - a messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine as well as a more traditional inactivated vaccine.

“This is our effort to increase our vaccination rates, in addition to preparing ourselves for future pandemics,” he said.

Recently, Malaysia has seen its vaccination numbers rise to over 150,000 doses per day, which is amazing!

So far, there are no details regarding the release of the locally-developed vaccines.

We hope this works out!
