It’s been more than a year since we’ve been able to travel overseas thanks to the ongoing pandemic. While we’ve been responsible staying home, we must admit that we miss travelling.

But fortunately, travelling may soon be allowed once again! However, travelling will only be for those who have been vaccinated.

As we know, Covid-19 vaccines have started rolling out in Malaysia, with many frontliners already receiving their doses.

Now, according to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysians who have received two doses of the vaccine may be allowed to freely travel between states and districts.

Not only that, the Prime Minister also shared that the latest international research on the vaccine indicated that those who have been given both doses and a certificate, could travel anywhere in the world.

“There were earler views that those who have been vaccinated may be protected from infection but could be a potential carrier of the virus,” he said. “Bu now, it has been found that this is not true.”

“I have discussed this in the NSC (National Security Council) meeting,” he added. “We want to decided if this is the case, those who have received two doses can travel across states and districts.”

“Boleh ke sana ke sini (go anywhere) without being stopped by the authorities,” he continued.

Currently, over 215,000 people in Malaysia have already received both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. As of 30th March, 621,417 people have received one vaccine dose.

While the Prime Minister shared that inter-state travelling may soon be allowed again, this does not mean that people are allowed to travel to different states for a holiday right at this moment.

The inter-state and inter-district ban is still in place until further notice.

Responding to a question about vaccination, he shared that the loosened travel restraints is meant to be an encouragement for those who have been vaccinated and received a digital certificate.

“If you have not been vaccinated and do not have a digital certificate, then you cannot go,” he said. “But if you have received two doses, then you can fly anywhere.”

The Prime Minister also indicated that international travel could also be possible soon for those who are vaccinated.

“We have started talks with several countries to allow our citizens who have received two doses with the certificate to travel,” he shared.

If you haven’t registered to be vaccinated just yet, here’s another reason why you should!

Bear in mind, travelling inter-state is still not allowed yet, so don’t start packing your bags just yet.
