Registration for the COVID-19 vaccine has been underwhelming with just 6.1% out of the 80% target for the country having signed up so far.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says the low figure is due a wait-and-see attitude by the public.

He also vowed to step up efforts to increase registration.

Public health authorities have vaccinated up to 17,064 people to date.

The states that have administered the most vaccine jabs are Sarawak, Pahang and Perak.

Malaysia is targeting to vaccinate up to 70 percent of the country’s 33 million population as early as year-end, two months ahead of the official deadline.

Do your part by helping the government put a stop to the COVID-19 pandemic and start registering for vaccination via the MySejahtera app.

You can now download the app on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and Huawei App Gallery.

Remember, the vaccination is free of charge and it is on a voluntary basis!

It’s also important to note that if every one of us takes the vaccine, we should be able to achieve herd immunity and this will not only protect those who have been vaccinated, but also the people around them.
