COVID-19: MOH To Provide Vaccination Mobile Units For Those Who Can’t Travel To Hospitals

The Health Ministry (MOH) has announced that a mobile unit will be sent to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to people who are unable to physically visit designated hospitals when it is their turn.
 
During his daily press briefing yesterday (February 18th), Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this will mainly cater to the elderly who are bedridden and living in old folks’ homes, as well as those who live in rural and remote areas.
 
He further explained that District Health Centres (PKD) would be evaluating the groups to enable efforts to vaccinate them as scheduled under Phase Two of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.
 
“We cannot expect the Orang Asli to come to us at the hospitals. We must go to them. The same applies to the elderly who cannot leave their homes,” he said.
 
Dr Noor Hisham added that MOH will do a clinical assessment on these critical groups. 
 
This includes looking into the history and health status of the individuals to see if it is safe for them to be injected with the vaccine or if there is a risk of adverse effects.
 
This is one of the initiatives to ensure such groups are not left behind, in order to achieve herd immunity with the target that at least 80% of the population is vaccinated.
