Elderly Man In Melaka Volunteers At Mobile PPV After Losing His Daughter To COVID-19
Aug 25, 2021
An elderly man from Melaka was recently heartbroken, after his 43-year-old daughter, Neti Anita, succumbed to COVID-19.
However, 68-year-old Abdul Aziz Rashid stayed in high spirits and decided to contribute his time and energy to the Community Vaccine Mobilisation Programme (MOVAK) at the Ayer Limau State Assembly (JAPERUN) Development and Coordination Committee Hall in Lubok Cina, Melaka.

According to Berita Harian, Abdul Aziz shared that his daughter passed away on July 23rd, just two days after being treated at the Melaka Hospital.
“She had been suffering from heart disease and when she was infected with COVID-19, she could not survive for long. She died within three days after being infected.
“My daughter was put to sleep on July 22nd and at 4:15 pm the next day, I received a call from a doctor informing me of the sad news,” he said.
He also shared that he lost his first wife, Tawiyah Jantan of a heart attack in 1999, followed by his eldest child, Nor Aziah due to uterine cancer in 2017.
“Now I have no children as my marriage with my second wife, Rohayati Mohd Jan did not birth more offspring. To cure the grief in my heart, I am proud to help others receive the vaccine,” he said.
He believes that participating in the programme as a volunteer will not only cure his grief, but he also has the opportunity to help his community.
“Losing Neti is like a dream. She left us too quickly. When she apologised for all her past mistakes during a video call with the help of the doctor before she was put to sleep, I didn’t realise it would be the last time I would talk to my daughter,” he added.
This broke our hearts!
Our condolences go out to his family. We wish Pak Cik Aziz and his wife well.
