The sudden surge of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, resulted in a panicked rush by Malaysians to return to their hometowns, which proved to be really a bad idea.

A passenger of an interstate bus tested positive for COVID-19 travelled from Johor Bahru to Kuantan on 16th March, just a day before the government’s Restrictive Movement Order (RMO) announcement was made.

Despite appeals to stay home, tens of thousand headed home early this week and due to this new case, the health authorities urged everyone who was on the same trip to report to the nearest clinic to get themselves tested.

Apparently, the passenger had undergone a COVID-19 screening in Johor Bahru, after which he travelled to Kuantan instead of isolating himself. The test result came in when he returned to his hometown.

Sources say that the bus was a Plusliner express with the license plate VDJ 2367. The bus left Larkin Sentral at 7.45pm.

If you know anyone who was on-board, please make sure they are informed of this. We cannot stress how important it is to abide by the government’s rules and stay in. We can really save lives, one person at a time. If you feel unwell immediately quarantine yourself and get yourself tested.

Let’s not leave for our hometowns, unless completely necessary. Let’s all work together to  #FlattenTheCurve.
