Please Do Not Visit Patients At The Hospital Right Now If It’s Not Necessary

We’re going into day 3 of the Movement Control Order, and everyone is doing all they can to help curb the spread of COVID-19, especially those working on the frontlines.
Recently, a video of a security guard working at a government hospital went viral on Twitter. In the video, the security guard was seen reminding the public about the visitation hours at the hospital, amidst the global pandemic.
“For everyone’s information, only two visitors are allowed for one patient,” he said.
“Children below the age of 12 are not allowed to visit patients in hospital wards” he added firmly.
The video had since been retweeted by more than 33K users, one of which was the official account for the Ministry of Health (MOH) reiterating the same advice.
MOH praised the delivery of the security guard while adding that all MOH hospitals have shortened their visiting times to prevent the spread of COVID19 infections in hospitals. Especially for high-risk people, they should try to avoid visiting the hospital if there is no urgent need for it.
Many also agreed with the extra measures taken by both MOH and the frontliners in protecting the public against the deadly virus.
In the past few days, many have been reported to be taking the Movement Control Order rather lightly, by not staying at home and practising social distancing.
In another video, a hospital staff was also seen reminding visitors who were queuing up inside the hospital that there will be no visitors allowed during this period. Only one guardian is allowed per patient and only after he/she has registered with the hospital for a special guardian card that would allow for visitation.
The hospital staff also advised visitors to practise social distancing whenever they are in public areas as it has proven effective in decreasing the transmission of the coronavirus.
Let’s all do our part and help all the frontliners by obeying the orders given during this pressing time. Help them, help us.
