New Wave Of COVID-19 Infections May Come Sooner Than Expected, Says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin

Jun 29, 2022

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says a rise in the number of daily cases suggests that a new wave of COVID-19 infections may happen sooner than expected.

According to FMT, Khairy said that his statement was not intended to create panic among the public but rather to serve as a preventative measure to control the transition to the endemic phase.

“I feel that the new COVID-19 wave may come earlier than expected.

“For instance, there are now over 2,700 cases. Previously we were seeing 1,000 to 2,000 cases each day but in the last two or three days, that number has exceeded 2,000,” he told reporters as reported by FMT.

Previously, Khairy was reported saying that the new COVID-19 wave was predicted to occur within the next two or three months.

Two new clusters had emerged recently and there had been a rise in cases in all states, except Selangor, Johor, Kedah, and Terengganu, all of which reported a slight dip.

This sounds scary! But don’t panic and remember to take care of yourself, wash your hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer and remember to wear a face mask when you’re indoors.

Stay safe, guys!
