Frontliners Selflessly Walk 1km Uphill In Full PPE While Carrying A Casket To Burial Site

Though we may all have our opinions about the country’s current state in the ongoing pandemic, the one thing that we can all agree on is that our frontliners are and have been the heroes of this whole situation.

From medical personnel to delivery riders to volunteers, there is no doubt that we would not have made it this far with Covid-19, if not for them.

Now, another group of frontliners are giving us another reason to call them heroes by going through extraordinary lengths to help arrange the burial of Orang Asli Covid-19 victims in the Orang Asli Jeram Kedah Village in Lenggeng.

The journey to the village was not an easy one.

Now only did the frontliners have to travel uphill on foot for almost an hour at mid-day, they carried the casket dressed in full PPE.

“Walking through hilly paths while wearing a full PPE suit made our journey difficult,” Mohd Adree shared. “With the hot weather, we also had to control our breathing to avoid getting too tired while handing the casket.”

“We had to take breaks to rest for a while before we continued to the burial site,” he told Bernama.

After working as a medical officer who manages the burial of Covid-19 victims for over a year now, Mohd Adree shared that he and his friends never saw the job as a burden, instead, they regard it as a duty that needs to be executed responsibly.”

“We are always ready and on-call to handle the burial of Covid-19 victims, so our personal health, and our physical and mental health play a very important role because we cannot anticipate how a situation may be when handling someone’s remains,” he said.
