Almost 800 People Crowded Ipoh’s Vaccination Centre Without An Appointment

May 24, 2021

Yesterday (May 23rd), Malaysia, yet again recorded a new high for daily COVID-19 infections with 6,976 new cases in the past 24 hours.

Most people are going above and beyond to make sure that they are safe from the infection, and one way is by getting vaccinated.

However, on Friday (May 21st), some pictures went viral on social media of 799 who had caused congestion at the Indera Mulia Stadium vaccination centre in Ipoh, Perak.

According to BERNAMA, Perak Health director, Datuk Dr. Ding Lay Ming said that the individuals went to the stadium in hopes of getting their vaccination jab on Friday, which was the first day of the implementation of the Enhanced Movement Control Order in the Kinta district, which involved Ipoh.

She added: “The actual number of appointments given through the MySejahtera app on 21 May was for 1,570 people, but there were 799 who came without an appointment and were escorts, hence the congestion.”

Expressing her disappointment, Dr. Ding advised the public to go for the COVID-19 vaccination jab only based on the appointment set for them.

She also reminded the public that once you have selected a location and date for your AstraZeneca vaccination, you will not be able to make any changes later on, and the time of your vaccination will be given to you via the MySejahtera app.

Please stay at home if you can, and stay safe, guys!
